Iowa Central celebrated veterans and their families on Friday November 10 with a Veteran’s Day program.
The program, held back-to-back in the Triton Café and the Greehey Family Student Services Building featured patriotic music selections honoring each branch of the military performed by the Iowa Central Brass Ensemble, and The Triton Eight Vocal Ensemble performed “Song for the Unsung Hero.”
Kris Nerem-Lowery shared the history of Veteran’s Day with staff and students in attendance, reminding them to take time to remember the sacrifices veterans made for their freedom.
“It is important to take time to recognize the veterans among us and the sacrifices they made,” said Nerem-Lowery.
作为该计划的一部分,在格里希大楼举行了烛光服务。 点燃了三支蜡烛,一支是为了纪念过去的老兵和他们的勇敢和忠诚; 一个是表彰那些仍然积极服务的人,以表彰他们的职责; and one candle for those who are currently in harm’s way to serve as a beacon to light the way home safely.
“We remember those serving today and we remember all those who have served, both living and those who have passed on,” said Nerem-Lowery. “We have a responsibility to teach future generations and to respect those who served our country in military service, not just on Veteran’s Day, but every day.”
