蒸汽节来到爱荷华中心

2日，在美国爱荷华州中央校区职业教育大楼的体育馆内，当地中小学生正在进行科学、技术、工程、艺术、数学（STEAM）领域的探索活动。

第六届年度蒸汽节在体育馆周围设置了超过25个站点，学生们可以在这里体验从爱荷华州乙醇拖车如何用玉米制造汽车燃料到各种鸟类如何在布拉克公园动物园收集食物的一切。

在艺术方面，学生们在爱荷华州中央艺术教师迈克尔·贝尔德的指导下进行了水彩技术的实验，他们尝试使用水彩铅笔，并在盐和酒精上作画，以想象与颜料的反应。

在爱荷华中央工程与设计技术展台，年轻的与会者被3d打印机的现场演示所吸引，并有机会查看打印机创造的各种物品。

Prairie Lakes AEA brought virtual reality career simulators to the event where different career areas could be explored “hands on” through a pair of virtual reality goggles. 在STEAMFest上，学生们正在模拟管道配件，而站在旁边的人可以在屏幕上看到他们的作品。

“The virtual reality program can simulate 32 different careers,” said Torey Proctor, a technology innovation consultant at Prairie Lakes AEA. “In a full 20-minute simulation they’re getting job assignments, they can read manuals, blueprints, communicate with a boss and co-workers.”

该节日的目标是促进、激励和吸引年轻人参与STEAM活动，并向当地社区的儿童和家长介绍STEAM职业。 The event was brought to Fort Dodge by Iowa Central Community College, Blanden Memorial Art Museum, the City of Fort Dodge, McClure Engineering and the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council.
