MLT课堂经验为学生准备临床，职业生涯

当Molly Wittrock还是个孩子的时候，她就知道自己想在医学领域工作。

“I thought I might be in the nursing program until I took a chemistry class in high school and just really liked the subject,” said Wittrock, a second-year student in Iowa Central’s Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program.

高中时，她曾在洪堡县纪念医院的实验室工作，这让她对实验室的兴趣更加浓厚。

“I fell in love with it and knew it was what I wanted to do,” said Wittrock.

高中毕业后，威特洛克参加了美国空军的基础训练，成为了一名军医，至今仍在爱荷华州空军国民警卫队担任这一职务。

在Wittrock参加这个项目之前，她的军医经历让她了解了MLT的一些基本原则。

“We learned the blood draw basics in the military,” said Wittrock. “Coming into the program, I had some experience before I got here which made things less intimidating.”

作为一名学生，Wittrock欣赏MLT课程提供的实践学习和现实世界模拟。

“The program really covers a broad spectrum of things,” she said. “Iowa Central prepares you for just about anything that could happen in the lab; we do manual tests and are prepared for situations like what you do if your analyzer goes down and how to have a good back-up system.”

Wittrock正在Clarion的爱荷华专科医院和诊所完成MLT项目的临床部分。 她说，她的课堂和实验室训练为她的临床工作做好了准备。

“What we learned in the classroom, we see and do a lot of the same in clinicals, so I feel like we were well prepared,” said Wittrock.

在为工作做准备的同时，威特洛克对她和她的同学们在参加董事会考试时取得成功充满信心。

“In class we do mock boards,” she said. “It gives us an opportunity to see where we are, what we know and what we need to work on. Our classes really do hit so many of the details of what you’ll see on boards.”

Wittrock很享受在MLT项目中的经历，他说，随着挑战而来的是一个很好的bet365中文支持系统。

“I love how our class is like one big family,” she said. “We all know each other, and everyone is so supportive, you can reach out to anyone anytime in and outside of the classroom. It’s a great support system.”

Wittrock鼓励任何考虑MLT项目的人参观校园，与学生和老师呆上一天。

“I strongly recommend coming and sitting in with the program for a day,” she said. “You’ll gain so much insight into what an MLT does. It is so much more than just drawing blood.”

完成课程后，Wittrock将在爱荷华州专科医院工作，并希望继续她的教育，获得医学实验室科学家的学士学位。
