This year’s recipients from Iowa Central—Paul Bloomquist, Tom Beneke, and Lisa Shimkat—embody the college’s mission of transforming lives, strengthening communities, and inspiring progress.

Paul Bloomquist – Outstanding Faculty Award

Paul Bloomquist, this year’s Outstanding Faculty Award recipient, consistently goes above and beyond for Iowa Central Community College. Lisa Shimkat – Outstanding Alumni Award

This year’s Outstanding Alumni Award honors Lisa Shimkat, who serves as the Associate Administrator of Field Operations for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). In this national leadership role, Lisa oversees 68 District Offices and 10 Regional Offices across the country, guiding the SBA’s field network to ensure that small businesses have access to critical capital, contracting support, and development resources.
