爱荷华中心庆祝黑人历史月

爱荷华中央社区学院（Iowa Central Community College）将在2月份举办一系列活动，庆祝黑人历史月，表彰黑人领袖和黑人文化的广泛贡献。

这个月的活动紧跟着我们1月份的马丁·路德·金纪念日，当时学生们被邀请反思并分享他们最喜欢的金博士语录，为学习和参与奠定了基础。

February’s events kicked off with Black History Trivia, where students tested their knowledge and won diversity pins and other prizes. Near the café entrance, the Iowa Central Diversity Team set up trivia questions, plinko game, prizes, and more. The Triton Café also served a special lunch featuring cultural favorites such as fried chicken, sweet potatoes, baked mac and cheese, collard greens, and black eye peas.

“It is important that we recognize the many valuable contributions that these individuals have made throughout history,” said Kris Nerem Lowery, a member of the Iowa Central Diversity Committee.

“Black history is an essential part of American history,” added Brandon Bush, student activities assistant director at Iowa Central. “Our campus is incredibly diverse, and we strive to create events that honor and educate about different cultures. Events like this, the Afro-Latino Festival, and the Native American Walking Gallery help highlight the significance of these contributions.”

UPCOMING - 黑人历史月音乐会 – Presented by the Iowa Central Music Department on 2月14日晚7点at the Fort Museum Opera House.
