放射学毕业生获颁奖典礼表彰

7月12日星期三晚上，爱荷华中央社区学院在道奇堡爱荷华中央校区的生物科学与健康科学大楼礼堂为其放射技术专业的毕业生举行了颁奖典礼。

临床协调员Althea Rouse在学术卓越、临床卓越、临床导师卓越和学生选择奖中颁发了2023年放射学奖。 Receiving the Clinical Excellence Award was Grant Wesselmann, Student’s Choice Award was given to Angela Castro-Garcia and the Excellence in Clinical Preceptor Award was presented to Lindsay Peterson. 学术优秀奖的获得者是Jaynie Ferrari和Leandra Schupbach。

在两年的放射学课程中，学生们完成了超过1700小时的临床，180小时的实验室和600小时的课堂教学。

2023届毕业生Jaynie Ferrari发表学生致辞。 来自Lake City的Hope Petzenhauser是爱荷华中央放射技术项目的2010届毕业生，她在晚会上发表了主题演讲。 Petzenhauser has an associate’s degree in radiology from Iowa Central, bachelor’s degree in Radiation Sciences from the University of Iowa, certificate in Radiation Therapy from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences and a master’s degree in radiation science from Southern Illinois University. 她是卡罗尔市圣安东尼地区医院的首席放射治疗师。

Petzenhauser recalled her time in Iowa Central’s classrooms both as a student in the program and as an instructor.

“I am glad that I was a small piece of your puzzle at Iowa Central; Iowa Central has always been a place that has felt like home to me,” she said. 我遇到了朋友和导师，建立了终身的联系。 When I started teaching the Limited Radiography class, I was so excited to help each of you on your path, help you grow, and share my knowledge base.”

“My desire to teach lead me to learn so much from these young students,” she said. “They taught me to be curious again, to yearn for more knowledge, and to not take life too seriously.”

她提醒学生们，从错误中吸取教训是可以的，要永远记住，学生们在职业生涯中可能会遇到错误，也需要知道并从中吸取教训。

“It is completely fine to make mistakes and to laugh about them,” said Petzenhauser. “We are all human which means we make mistakes; 完美是不存在的。 让你所做的一切都有价值，提出尖锐的问题，要勇敢，要勇敢，最重要的是要知道自己的价值。 And last but not least, never forget what it feels like to be a first-year x-ray student.”
